David Parker began his career as a visual effects artist, over 17 years ago.  After only a few short years from his start, he was tapped as the first American flame artist to join the preeminent London-based VFX house, the Mill. While at the Mill in New York, he spent months at a time at the ‘mothership’ office in the UK, where he learned about production protocol across the pond, and took in the European aesthetic that still informs his work today. David continued on to help open the Mill’s Los Angeles outpost, before going over to Psyop, where he sharpened his eye for design and bloomed in his commercial directorial career.

David has a DIY approach to filmmaking -- learning his craft through invaluable, on the ground, work experiences, in the worlds of both visual effects and design.  After shooting music videos and viral films to high acclaim on Vimeo and magazines like Atlantic Monthly, IDN, Yahoo News, Indiewire, and Filmmaker, he was nominated for “New Director of the Year” by Shots magazine in 2013, with close friend and frequent collaborator, Cole Schreiber. Shortly thereafter, he and Cole signed with MJZ, one of the industry’s long standing top production powerhouses.

In addition to directing, David teamed up with Cut + Run to launch their VFX sister company, Jogger Studios.  In 2015, David left MJZ to focus his time building Jogger Studios, where as founder and creative director, he enjoys taking on all different types of creative - ranging from traditional visual effects, commercial production and independent filmmaking.

David currently lives in Venice, CA with his wife, child and 2 dogs. On most days he can be found biking around Venice with his son or burning, building, sculpting, throwing, whittling, cooking, baking, gardening, napping, working or just generally scratching his head over the usefulness of social media while pretending to be an old man
